Rising in the Writing World
The Writing Coach & Tutor for Students & Writers
What do you do as my personal Writing Coach?

As your Writing Coach, I will work one-on-one with you, tailoring all of our communications around your needs. I will also evaluate your writing skills through quick assessments, your writing projects, and assignments (if applicable), which will help me focus on the aspects of essay, paper, or creative writing that need further refining. You can expect to receive 100% of my attention on your writing and on your individual goals as a writer, and I will always strive to create a nurturing atmosphere that will enhance the facilitation of knowledge.

What are Love Notes & Help Notes?

To most people, criticism is the disapproval of someone based on perceived faults or mistakes. For writing and literary works, criticism should be the analysis and judgment of the merits and faults of a work. However, the connotation of a word has more weight than the base meaning and in our society, criticism is seen as bad.

So, I devised a system, influenced from participation in numerous workshops and the counsel of my writing mentors, which I call Love Notes & Help Notes. This system is designed to inform you, to guide you, to instill confidence in you about your own writing, and to make you aware of the great techniques you’ve already achieved. Love Notes & Help Notes are a positive, student-centered, writer-centered analysis of strengths, successes and places recognized for improvement.

You can also find helpful writing hints and tips on my blog which is also named Love Notes & Help Notes!

What are Coaching Sessions?

Coaching Sessions are the time we spend one-on-one working on your writing project and reviewing techniques associated with English and Creative Writing.

For students and writers in Hardin County, Kentucky, these sessions can take place face-to-face. I usually meet at the local library, but I am willing to meet in a place that is convenient for you.

For all other students and writers, these sessions occur in one of four ways:

  • Video chat services such as Yahoo!, Google Hangout or Skype
  • Phone calls
  • Instant Messaging
  • Back-and-Forth Emails

I would prefer either video or phone calls because this allows real-time interaction, but I understand that this may not be the best method for you and I am here to help you! Just let me know what you need.

What if I have a word count not listed in the options for Just Editing or Writing Critique?

Call me, text me, email me, use regular mail, or use my contact form to provide me with the following details:

  • Name
  • Service requested
  • Length of writing project (words)
  • Best time to contact you with contact information (phone number or email address)

I will get back to you within 24 hours with an estimate and further instructions. If you need faster service, please put URGENT! in the subject line of your text message, your email or on the contact form. Additional charges apply.

Why do we have to sign a contract?

Signing a contract benefits both you and me because it is a commitment between us. The contract will outline your writing project or package details so you know what to expect and you know that the price will not change. The contract also assures me that you are a serious parent, student, or writer who expects a certain level of expertise and I am reassured to know that you understand your obligations to render payment for the services provided.

How do I get a discounted rate?

There are multiple ways to receive a discounted rate or coupon for my services:

  • All military personnel and dependents receive a 15% discount with a valid Military ID card.
  • For various coupons and discounted rates, please check yp.com.
  • If you have my business card with a code on the back, you can submit it for a discounted rate.
  • You can receive 10% off your next service for a referral that results in a new service contract.
  • Occasionally, I will post a discounted price on my website. Right now, you can receive an in-depth Writing Critique for 20 pages at the rate of $20, normally a $25 value.
  • Lastly, you can sign up for a Rewards Program and receive $5 off every service of all services over $5. Please contact me for further details.

Why is there an additional charge if I request to have my writing project mailed back to me (or delivered in person if I live in Hardin County, Kentucky)?

Exchanging writing projects via email is a free service for me that takes a matter of seconds to complete. However, mailing writing projects or delivering them in person is an extra expense that requires much more time than emailing.

How much do you charge for my writing project to be mailed back to me or be delivered in person if I don’t get a Writing Package?

For mailing, it depends on the length of the writing project, but costs have a range of $4.95 to $19.95.

For delivery in person, it depends on the location. If we meet at the Hardin County Public Library, the flat rate fee is $5.00. However, if you wish to meet at different location, I charge a flat rate fee of $5.00 + $2.00 for every 15 minutes of travel.

What if I need a rush return on my writing project?

If you need a rush return, please notify me immediately. You can do this during our initial communications or when you send your writing project as an attached document. Please put URGENT! in the subject line of your email. There is a fee of $0.50 per page assessed for rush returns.
